Bangkok is an intriguing blend of glittering skyscrapers in the business district to the calm, traditional Buddhist temples that dot Bangkok like oversized ornaments. On the ground, street vendors take every opportunity to sell their products, from fantastic food to Tuk Tuk rides to their own company; anything and everything seems to be there for the taking in Bangkok.

In Thai, the name of Thailand’s largest city and capital is as dissimilar from ‘Bangkok’ as possible. Part of the city’s title in the native language can be translated as “City of Angels”, just like Los Angeles. Both Bangkok and Los Angeles are two cosmopolitan cities filled with the world’s weird and wonderful people and fascinating sights. 

The nightlife in Bangkok is infamous and it is one of the biggest cultural attractions of the city. Lately, large scale social reforms have reduced the closing hours of some places to 1am or 2am. But, good news for travellers who like the late late night lifestyle, there is always some kind of late night craic to be had at the informal street bars on the Khao San Road. For those with more exotic tastes there is always the district of Silan, home of the world famous go go club ‘Patpong’ which simply as a spectacle draws all types of people in their hoards.

From whole families travelling around on motorbikes and monks dresses in brilliant orange robes to spectacular temples, historic ruins, culinary delights and indescribable soothing Thai massages, you will be sure to take home some unforgettable memories of this city.
